Dobermann line-up at Doberdayz Summer Show
Once again many thanks to Sharon Chamberlin and all her helpers at the Doberdayz Summer Show at Rickmansworth. Now established as a regular event FOND has received a donation of six hundred pounds from monies raised. As you can see there were plenty of Dobes there to enjoy the fun and all are looking forward to next years show.
You can find more pictures from the show HERE
Dobermanns being a deep chested breed are more susceptible to bloat or to give it its veterinary term gastric dilatation volvulus than some other breeds. It is a condition that requires IMMEDIATE attention and is life threatening.

With the approach of Summer even with moderate temperatures your dog can be at risk of overheating. Recently six dogs had to be rescued from vehicles at the Badminton Horse Trials as temperatures rose.
Last month the RSPCA conducted an experiment leaving a thermometer inside a van. With the ambient temperature at 15ºC within an hour the temperature inside the van had risen to 45ºC
Even if you don’t think its a warm day always remember to leave plenty of ventilation and try to find some shade when you leave your dog in the car and continually check on them
Could this be the thin end of the wedge. Tesco and More Than are changing the terms of their insurance policies. Are we seeing the introduction of insurers trying to control veterinary services as they do with the motor trade by insisting on nominating whose services they will reimburse you for.

Once again Doberdayz are holding their popular Summer Show at the Rickmansworth-Aquadrome
The introduction of pet passports has made it easy for pets to travel into Europe and beyond allowing owners to take them on holidays or for extended stays in the sun. But if you are about to embark on any journeys with your dog you should be aware of possible health risks you can find out more here and seek advice from your vet.
These are just two of the great prizes that we are gathering for our Prize Draw in July. More details to follow.
You may have read or seen recent reports of the case where two evil brothers were prosecuted for the most horrendous acts of cruelty to a bulldog puppy which later had to be put to sleep as the result of their actions.
They were sentenced at a Magistrates Court to a 21 week suspended prison sentence and a tagged curfew order. We at FOND agree with the huge numbers of those who find this sentence an insult to those who care for animal welfare and urge you to join in the petition initiated by Alex Richardson Lee requesting that this lenient sentence be reviewed.
You can add your signature to the petition HERE
We would also demand that the Magistrate(s) who tried and sentenced this case be required to justify their reasons for not imposing a custodial sentence immediately.
